Healin’ is Peelin’

August 18, 2011

I was sharing with my husband about some recent blogs I wrote….  that underneath all our junk we ARE healed. It’s that we have to get rid of those blocks, roots, etc. that has distorted our health and who we are. God created us perfectly from His heart, but sin had left a filthy stain… Jesus washing all the sin away… but this is what we are doing daily, as believers. Allowing Jesus to wash those things away.  I spoke about it in my previous blog called, “Does your ship have Barnacles?” And as we were talking, we realized that we are just a bunch of onions, having to be peeled one layer at a time so that the “real you” comes out.  I had started creating a game called, “Will the real ________, please stand up.” And you would fill that blank in with your name. It’s a game that would help you expose things that don’t belong, and getting rid of what is not of God, so the “real” you comes forth.

After talking for some time about this, my husband’s ONE LINER was, “Peelin’ is Healin’.  I like that!! He knows how to sum it up that is for sure…

Does Your Ship Have Barnacles?

August 17, 2011

The most amazing insight was given to me the other day as I was visiting with the Lord. I just can’t get past the scripture that says, “By His stripes we are healed.” It sounds pretty final to me, so what’s the problem? Why aren’t some of us healed?

Here is the insight. God created us from the foundation of the world perfectly. He made a perfect creation when He created you! So then you get born into a family with issues… generational issues, present issues, and so when you begin to grow up, you have taken on some of this junk. Now that junk, plus your junk has been hindering you from that perfect person God created in you.

I call these “things” barnacles. As with a ship, periodically the barnacles have to be scraped off, but underneath those barnacles is the ship. Some divers have found giant barnacles, only to find inside a rare treasure. But it was in there all along, just as YOU are in there too.

We need to scrape off all our barnacles, then the real you, the one YOU want to be will imerge.

Many are waiting for God to heal us… well, after getting this insight, I realize that He already did… it’s our turn to catch up to what He has already done… and we do that by getting rid of one barnacle at a time!

Those barnacles are regret, fear, self-pity, anger, jealousy, confusion, generational iniquities, etc., and yet God wants to help you one by one emerge from among these things to see the real you. Many are in identity crises, not knowing who they are, what they are supposed to do, and what’s going to happen next. As we continue cooperating with God to get rid of these things, eventually YOU will come through.

So how do we cooperate with God? Through confession, through forgiveness, and by receiving his full pardon, love, forgiveness and relationship.

But it starts with one barnacle at a time. When we can see it like this, and know that underneath all that stuff is us, our health, our identity, wow… wouldn’t you want to get ahold of the barnacle scraper?

There are many individuals that I minister to that are crying out for healing. They are healed… it’s just underneath all those barnacles!

1 Peter 2:24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Herein lies the key….   we only read the last part of this scripture, but what about the condition for healing? That we should be dead to sins (barnacles)  and live unto righteousness (cleaning off those barnacles with truth, love, forgiveness, and relationship with Him.) If we fall short in any area, don’t get upset, simply confess. Restoration is as close as a prayer.

What about the bears?

August 11, 2011

I have been on this Christian journey for over 35 years, but “just do it” doesn’t always work for me, and I imagine, it doesn’t always work for you. Even Paul said he does those things he doesn’t want to do, and don’t do things he wants to do. Sound familiar?

Well, I got a clear visual of this today and thought I would pass it on to you… as it truly helped me understand so that I don’t keep falling into guilt and condemnation.

It’s time to use your imagination… now for those who think that is wrong to use imagination… how do you think God created the world? Through His imagination. He gave it to us to use for His glory, not for the devil to use… so let’s use it for His glory in this example.

Imagine you are sitting on a rock with a beautiful scenery before you. You decide to go there, as it was not a far walk. So you begin to take a few steps, then looking down, you see a family of bears. The land is just beyond those bears. You can take 10 minutes to get there. It’s within your reach. But what about those bears!

This is what the Lord showed me. He shows us what is for us in His Word… that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us… but what about the bears?  Spiritually speaking, these bears are what is blocking you from entering into that Promised Land. These are sins, iniquities, unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment, hurt, hate, anger, disappointment, discouragement, etc. Jesus came to free us from sin… so if He completed His work, and said, “It is finished?” why are we still struggling… it’s those darn bears!

The Lord wants you to work with Him at exposing every bear in your life, and having it removed. Then once the bears are gone, you can freely walk into that beautiful meadow…

I encourage you to decide today to stop running from the bears, but turn and face each one, allowing the Lord to deal with any issues preventing you from going into the Promised Land that was created for you! We all have a special place God wants us, but if there are bears in the way, it will be frustrating. We can see the promises, we can even almost reach them, but them bears are in the way!

Deal with the bears….  The Bible talks about the strong man. We need to see who it is that is ruling and reining in us… bind him, then go after his armor. Once we recognize and repent for allowing them to be there, you can now cast out the strong man. (Mark 3:27 27No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.)

Get rid of them there bears….  and enter into all the promises of God.

Identify Theft!

August 7, 2011

Hey… who stole my identity?  The thief comes but to kill, steal and destroy…. but Jesus came to bring us life and more abundantly (John 10:10)

Two things are going on here…  first, the enemy is wanting to steal your life, identify, who you are, cause you to doubt God.. and at the same time Jesus is wooing you, teaching you truth about who you are, so you can live the abundant life.

Without knowing who we are, where we have been, and where we are going, we will flounder, be double-minded, and easy  pickins’ for the enemy.

It’s up to you, today, to get your life back…  How, I hear you ask?

First decide today that you will NOT fear what you will become when you finally discover yourself. I had a friend tell me one time as I was ministering to her that she was afraid of what she will change into. What if she won’t like herself.. what if her husband won’t love her any more…  This all comes from the lies of the enemy because he wants you to fear God’s plan for your life, that you’ll have to give something up or become something you won’t want. But we all know that is silly… For God has great plans for our life… that is the truth.

Secondly, confess that you don’t know who you are, or what you were born to do. Just say it out loud…  Don’t be afraid the devil will hear you.. then that is another problem, having fear of the devil! Just be honest with God right now..  It’s the truth that makes you free… not hiding. So come out of the bushes and say, “here am I Lord.”

Thirdly, start thanking God for changing you into HIS identity and image.. Being thankful allows you to receive. If we keep asking and asking and asking, you are working too hard. But if you ask and then choose to receive it… you will have it. The Bible says that we shall have what we believe… “shall have” is receiving…  so we have to believe first in order to receive it. So begin thanking God for loving you, for putting his imprint on you…

Fourthly, rest. Having done all, stand. Allow God’s love to love you! I had a visitor this week, and we did a lot of ministry for the first 4 days.. then loud and clear the 4th night I heard.. STOP! Well, I wasn’t sure what that was, until the next day when I realized it was time to rest… all work and no play makes for an unhappy Christian. So we played. We swam in the river, looked for gold, caught fish, played with a tadpole…( yes, we are 40 somethings and above!) and truly enjoyed God’s beautiful landscape. Remember, Jesus came to give us life and ENJOY it…  Not to be put back under bondage. We simply enjoyed ourselves… and I do understand some people feel guilty for that… another area to repent to the Lord because you are rejecting His love…  I remember one time I asked God… “How do I receive your love?” And he said, “Well, how do you receive your husband’s love?” I said, “I let him love me.” And He said, “Well let me love you.” This friend of mine struggled with receiving God’s love, but by weeks end, she was experiencing God’s love, through the people she encountered while here, my husband and I, and his creation.

Then finally, stop and listen! We do enter His rest because we believe. Believe who we are in Christ, believe that God has not left us to fen for ourselves,  believe that we are His children. The Bible says that we are given the power to BECOME the sons of God. We don’t wake up one day and have it all together… becoming is a process…  we will “become” until He takes us home. No one has it all together, or has it all figured out… So we can always grow more in this area of “becoming” like God. The enemy wants you to think God has abandoned you, doesn’t want you, you are too much of a mess, but these are all lies. If we read scriptures it is filled with things like, “You are the apple of my eye, You are fearfully and wonderfully made in HIS IMAGE, and many, many more. Who are we going to listen to? Remember, the devil is a liar and so whatever you hear that is from him, is a lie! Choose today to start listening to the right voice.

These are some simple steps in finding yourself… The Bible says if we lose our life, we shall find it…  we need to lose ourself in the Lord’s plan and identity for us. We have to stop trying to make our own identity by what we have, who we know, our job skills, etc., instead STOP and begin to receive His nature and character into our lives. As the old song goes, “Only what we do for Christ will last…” What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world but lose his soul… what will he give in exchange for his soul? Well, Jesus did the “great exchange” simply take it. Not only for salvation, but for getting your identity rooted and grounded in His…
