Can being nice to people be manipulation?

April 29, 2014

Just recently I was dealing with difficult situations in my life. Of course, the difficulty is with people… so I decided to change my attitude towards them. I decided to be be nice. Then I thought I was being manipulative. So I got a little unsure about being nice at all…

Well, the Lord gave clarity on this. Let’s see what Jesus taught: He spoke on loving our enemies, to confirm our love to those that are hurting, to do good to those who use you and persecute you, to give if you have it to give, to forgive everyone, to go around doing good, and more. The way you can know for sure if what you are doing is manipulation is if you are doing all these things for YOU.

When I started doing good to those around me who were difficult, I had to check my heart. Was it to make ME more comfortable? Well, I had to admit, some of it was but some of it wasn’t. So I repented. Because we manipulate out of fear of being rejected or hurt. We want to be loved and appreciated but if we feel we aren’t, we will say and do things to ensure that. That is manipulation.

We can be free from that by being honest in all areas. If we begin to treat people better because of “fear of man” that is also sin and a form of manipulation. If we simply be ourselves, we won’t have to come back later and repent, or ask for forgiveness, or feel guilty. We will remain free, because it’s the truth that MAKES us and KEEPS us free. Now if I do say something that wasn’t so good, I repent and then I ask that person for forgiveness. Because we do open our mouths some times and say the darndest things!

The Best Things in Life Are Free

April 25, 2014

I just read this quote today and it had new meaning. I never really believed that for years, but not until I’ve been growing in the Lord in what the blessings are God wants us to have. And all His blessings are Free! Freely we have been given, so freely we give. I realized that “substance” is not free. Someone has to make it, pay for it, build it, keep it stored, etc., There is a cost to owning things. But there is NO cost to owning love, peace, joy, integrity, self-control, fearlessness, compassion, and joy, to mention a few. Because everything IN Jesus is free!! And He’s the best thing that could ever happen to us.

Are we living like Royalty?

April 14, 2014

This morning as I was laying in bed, a quote came to my mind, “Don’t be a defeatist, it’s so middle class.” I heard this on Downton Abby by the wise grandmother. As I pondered on that, I could take offense but I decided not to, because for me, it’s true. When we live in depression, discouragement, sadness, fear, etc., we are not living to the potential of the royalty we have been given as the children of God and heir to His Kingdom through the Prince of Peace, Jesus.  So as I began thinking of my life and every detail on how I handle things I made a list. Because a person living as royalty lives an excellent life. Exercises self-control, and doesn’t live sloppily. So here’s a list I came up with where I can improve…

1) cleaning up after myself. Most of us don’t have maids and butlers, some of us do have a house cleaner, but most of us have to do it ourselves. When we realize that what we have is to be taken care of as the King’s property, we may do a little better job. Personally, I am messy! And I want to change that. When I open a drawer and take something out, I need to put it back when done and shut the drawer. Oh no… what I do, is open the drawer, take something out and leave everything out, drawer open and wonder why things are a mess? This is something that doesn’t need a “revelation” from the Lord… I just need to do it. It’s an act of my will.

2) Taking care of my temple. I have plans to eat right, exercise, but I am not consistent. I want to be more excellent in this area and disciplined. A person who lives royalty, is disciplined.

3) Be courageous and fearless. This has been a process since the day I got a revelation in order to live like this, we need to believe and receive God’s perfect love for us. When we “know” really “know” who we are, we will become courageous because we know all Heaven is behind us. And when we receive God’s perfect love, it casts out all fear. So receiving and believing are key to living life as royalty.

4) Thinking of others. Think of ways to bless others with what God has given me. A true person of Royalty always takes care of others.

5) Keeping my car clean

6) Everything I do, do it as unto the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Whatever I speak, whatever I think, whatever I watch, whatever I do, do it unto Him.

7) Cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. Does your TV and book reading reflect cleanliness? Remember, cleanliness is next to godliness, as the saying goes.

8) Read the Word daily. This is key to knowing who we are by learning who the King really is.

9) Get myself off my my mind. I know that some who are royalty are selfish and just thinking of themselves, but not so in the Kingdom of Heaven. In God’s Kingdom, others are priority. Loving ourself is priority. Loving God is priority. But if we have ourself on our mind all the time, we are not living in Kingdom Royalty, nor in the freedom God has sent us.

10) Teach my children and grandchildren the truth. Teach them how to live godly lives, be honest, have integrity, love one another, be responsible, etc. This can be a full-time job, especially if you are raising children now.

11)  Re-evaluate all my possessions. If I’m spending more time and money keeping up with the maintenance on cars, my house expenses and upkeep, cleaning, etc., then I may have TOO much to take care of. It’s time to scale down (or up) in order to take care of what I have without it draining all my energy or finances. So I’m looking at this closely. Because the main purpose of living this life is not to attain so much “stuff” but to love and share my heart with others so they too can live in the “riches in Christ Jesus.” When we understand what those riches are, we will be surprised that these things DON’T drain us or our pocket book but BLESSES us and even strengthens us! So if you feel tired, drained and living paycheck to paycheck, then we need to look at those things closely and make some decisions. I have learned that if I can’t take care of properly what I have, why would God give me any more? For today, I need to live within my means, and take care of what I do have, believing for other things as the Lord sees fit to give them.

12) Bottom line, what am I consumed with? To re-evaluate the value in what it is I’m doing, buying, eating, or involved with. What is so important to me that if I lose it, I will LOSE it? Because perhaps this is robbing you of living as royalty. Because everything on this planet is for OUR use. We are only borrowing it until the Lord takes us home. And God knows what you have NEED of and will give it to us. But if your needs are not being met, then we need to re-evaluate what we are wanting?

13) Being a child and heir of Heaven’s Kingdom is never boring. If you are bored, then you will need to do some soul searching, because we have been given such a great task and responsibility to represent God on this planet. He wants us to teach, love, and bring people to Him because His desire is that we ALL experience living as royalty, to be saved, to inherit eternal life. So our living as excellent as we can, exercising self-control, doing everything for God, will help us grow in who God has created us to be. There is always something to do, and for others. When you  get bored, it’s that we are stuck on our own thoughts and imaginations. But when we put on the “mind of Christ” filled with possibilities, you cannot be bored.

14) How about the company we keep? Who are we fellowshipping with? A scripture comes to mind that says not to fellowship with darkness, those who walk in fear, fornicators, liars, etc., and these COULD be Christians! Keeping ourselves pure is important to living royalty. When the Lord told the people to “utterly destroy” tribes and peoples, it wasn’t because He was a terrible God, it was that these people had a mixture of the seed of Satan! Now there is a balance, we are to go out into the world and preach the truth, and love on our enemies, etc., but we don’t have to hang out with them. I have some purging to do I think…

IF, and that is a big if, we do not measure up to these things and find ourselves in old patterns, remember why Jesus came… to cover our sins. To help us make better decisions. To equip us to do all He has called us to do. But this list isn’t to make you fall under guilt or condemnation, it’s to help you find the truth for your life and live it. Remember Jesus came to complete where we lack! He came to give us the POWER to live an abundant life. He came to cover all our sins. So be sure to go to Him in all areas of your life. So now as I look around my house I see things “undone” I will rejoice that my life is full, not look at it as a burden. But I will begin to prioritize my life again, and we need to do that from time to time if our live is getting out of hand.  So, today, I will begin taking care of one thing at a time, do what I can do today and leave the rest. Not to fall into “works” or “driven” but to take account of my life and choose to do things with excellence because of Whose I am.

Have I Been Living A LIe?

April 10, 2014

The other night i watched a movie that truly hit some pretty valid points I would like to make here. The story is of a woman who came back home after years of being gone, to see her mother. The last thing she remembered about her father was when she was 8 years old and had given him a pipe for a b-day gift. Her father died in an explosion on his boat, and she had believed the pipe sparked the flame and caused her father’s death. She had believed that all these years. So when she visited her mother, she found the pipe! She just got the life-changing revelation that she didn’t cause her father’s death at all. She said, “Believing I caused his death has caused me to live my life from a lie.” So she had a hard time loving herself. She had a hard time in relationships. She just had it hard because of what she was believing.

Now, let’s talk about the mother. Her mother was eventually admitted to a mental ward because she was not mentally well. She was doing things that were strange and harmful to herself. But then the truth came out of her father’s death. And the mother was carrying this “secret” and was causing her diminishing mind. When the truth came out about how he really died, the mother was freed, the daughter was freed, the friends involved were free, and the mother got back in her right mind again.

Now, this is a fiction movie, but the principles are true. If we have been living that we were never wanted, how will your life turn out? If we were believing that we caused our mother’s death, how will life turn out? If we had been believing something that wasn’t true at all, how will we live?

That is why truth is so important to find. It says to seek her as a treasure. The truth will make you, and all those involved, free. Others may not admit it, but you can, and that’s where it starts. Only what YOU can do.

So if you just think something is wrong in your life. Or you just never felt loved or accepted. Or you have problems with commitment. Or if you don’t like people touching you or complimenting you, etc., then ask God what lie did you start believing for yourself?

Things WILL work out no matter how grim!

April 1, 2014

We all have heard the scripture that says, “All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” And I’ve often said it this way, “If everything works out in the end, it’s just not the end yet.” But I found a treasure in the Word this morning that made it more clearer:

Deuteronomy 23:5 Nevertheless the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the Lord thy God turned the curse into ablessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.

Wow… It says the Lord doesn’t care what the enemy (devil) says or does, for He is greater than him… and will turn anything thrown at us into a blessing BECAUSE HE LOVES US!

That is enough to stand up and shout today isn’t it?

Do you have “stuff” in your head?

April 1, 2014

This morning as I woke up my husband asked, “How do you stay still all night? You don’t even move. I have to poke you to see if you are still breathing.” And I said, “God keeps me in perfect peace because I asked Him to let me sleep all night without waking up.” Then we began a discussion, and I said, “God gives us what we ask for when it’s spiritual and not stuff.” And Tom said, “Yeah, you can’t put “stuff” in your heart, but you can put “stuff” in your head! We laughed!

I had been reading in 1 Corinthians about the ‘spiritual gifts’ that are freely given. He says to ask and it shall be given, and if it hasn’t been given, perhaps we are asking for things to consume it up on our flesh! James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts (and lust means flesh). There is no room in my heart for a new car, but there is room in my heart for content with what I have. There is no room in my heart for money, but there is room in my heart to be a giver. There’s no room in my heart for food, but there is room in my heart to seek the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. When the Lord showed me this basic Christian living principle, it impacted my very fabric of my being.

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

By knowing what is truly freely given, we will be better prayer warriors. Because these are the things that produce fruit!!!! What fruit? Everything else falls behind seeking God and His Righteousness, because THEN everything else you need for this life will be given. You don’t ever have to ASK for those things… they become part of the package. God knows already what you have need of, and will give it. Matthew 6:8 … for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

But we have to put first things first and that is asking for those things that are of His nature and Character.

There are many health issues out there, but seeking after healing isn’t the answer, seeking after the gifts God freely has given us, is. Then from there, your health will follow. Your financial needs will follow. Relationship needs will follow.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Paul even said in 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Have you ever wondered what He meant? It means He learned that  worldly wisdom or what man can do is fruitless, but only what is given through Jesus changes the hearts of men because that’s what produces our fruit. That’s what causes people to act. What is IN us is what we are. “We are what we think.” Paul goes on to say that He speaks only the wisdom of God, not the wisdom of men. He knew also that whatever the heart is full of, comes out in our actions and words. Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:

Do you see how easy the Word is to understand if we decide to put all the things we “want and need” behind the truth? These passages have new meaning for me. I understand now what I’m suppose to seek, think and do. The outcome has been amazing, and that’s why 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.

If we just seek God and those things freely given, we allow God to bless us with things we never imagined possible!! It’s exciting because you don’t know what He’s going to do next and that way we aren’t putting a cap on what He can do because of what we “expect.” Now I do have a vision, because we need to have “hope” in something ahead of us, but I’m not talking about that right now. I’m saying to seek God, trust Him, love Him, and so much more than you can imagine will chase YOU down!

Deuteronomy 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

What is the condition for “receiving” blessings? What is in your heart? Because what is in your heart will help you know how to pray for those things freely given.

If you need a job; begin to ask the Lord to help you be a giver and a lover.  If you need a friend: ask the Lord to help you be more friendly. If you need a spouse; ask the Lord to help you learn to be submissive to You, your Husband. If you need anything, learn what the “spiritual” issue is behind it and pray for that… THEN.. that which you desire shall come!
