Ebola and the Bible

October 28, 2014

We know there is an outbreak of this terrible virus in the U.S. And even Christian’s got the disease. So what does the Bible say about it?

First, are we going to listen to the world’s view and fall into fear, or are we going to heed (believe and do) the Word of the Lord, and stay in faith?

Psalm 91 says, “No evil shall come nigh my dwelling.” Is Ebola evil? It certainly is. And another passage says, “No deadly thing shall in any way hurt me.” Can Ebola hurt us? Of course. So let’s see how to get these scriptures WORKING in our lives with some simple truth. If these promises of God are for us, then we need to know how they can work in our lives. Because after all, some Christians doing humanity work got the virus!

It’s all about what is IN our heart. We are commanded to forgive everyone, to love God, ourself and others. Upon this hangs EVERYTHING… even our health. When a virus attacks us, we need to ask ourselves: “Where do I have a broken relationship? and  Am I receiving God’s love for me right now”? These two areas open us up for immune type of dis-eases. Because a broken heart dries up the bones (takes away life giving substance to your health) but a merry heart does good like a medicine. A merry heart comes from happy relationships!! Relationships with God, yourself and others. If you have any breaches with any of these areas, you are prone to dis-eases. It doesn’t matter if you are a Christian or not… God is NO respecter of persons and demands total surrender, forgiveness, love and truth in every heart’s life. These are the elements of keeping evil away. 2 Corinthians 2:5-11 tells us this. To love, forgive, so the enemy (evil) can’t touch us! 2 Timothy 2:24-26 says that we are to “know” these truths so that we can recover ourselves.

Well, the Lord put me to the test. During this time, many people were coming to me with the “concerns” (fear) of Ebola… about themselves actually getting it. So after hearing it up to my ears I said to one of my friends, “I am not going to worry or be concerned about the virus unless it is at my doorstep.” Well, this is when the Lord tested my resolve.

I picked up my mail the VERY NEXT DAY and brought it in my house. I hadn’t looked at it until the next day and noticed an envelope. It was from Africa!! I looked at that letter in my hand and burst out laughing… And I heard the Lord say, “Well, it came to your door.” What I mean is that I got something from the infested area of that country and it came through my door!! I said, “Lord, you are so funny, it did come to my doorstep, but I will not fear. For you said no deadly thing will harm me, and no evil will come nigh my dwelling.” (I didn’t tell anyone but a close friend and my husband because I know the hearts of men would freak out and fear. So I waited for a month to write this so THOSE WHO FEAR won’t fear me and my home!!)

I laughed all day. Remember, a merry heart does good like a medicine.  And I also laughed because my joy came from trusting God. He tested me to see if I really did believe the Word… and I passed the test.  (I wasn’t sure if a disease can pass on that way or not, no one really knows how it travels. So I had to truly trust God with my life.)  It did cause me to make a mental inventory though of my heart to be sure my heart was clean of unforgiveness,  bitterness,  self-hatred,  jealousy,  anger,  doubt, and  fear… I double checked these areas and confessed my sin so that my heart stayed clean and pure. When we confess our sins, God will cleanse us. We have to keep our hearts clean before him and NOTHING will stick to us. Sickness tells on us people. It tells us what is really going on in our heart! And over 75% of all dis-eases are rooted in fear and stress… (Fear is also behind every sin).

Fear is an open sepulcher… it sucks everything and everyone in it. Let’s choose today to STOP fearing what the world says, and start trusting and believing what God said. You don’t have to worry any more when you get your heart cleaned with love, forgiveness and truth. But if you have things hidden, or if you are in fear, or if you are not trusting God, you may be setting yourself up to getting sick… and that’s the truth. Not only ebola, but any type of immune system dis-ease! Take the time today to get your heart clean. It’s not about being perfect, and doing everything right, it’s about trusting in the righteous one to love, forgive and restore your heart through your confession and faith.

There is a scripture that says all God’s promises are YES and AMEN. Well, the Lord showed me how I can incorporate this into my own life. Because we are able to think like God thinks, and do what God does, and say what God says. Isn’t that what we are aspiring to do in our lives?

So, this is how we can apply, YES and AMEN in our lives too. When someone comes along and tells you something God is doing in their lives, and they are so excited. We can simply say, YES and AMEN. But what do we do? First we say, “What about me Lord? When will I get my breakthrough? When will someone say that about me? When will I get to have what they just got?”

Recently I had the opportunity to apply this as well. Someone got a huge blessing and I started to say, “what about me…” then the Lord met me and said to say what HE WOULD SAY….  Yes and Amen. In other words, Yes, that is awesome, and Amen that you received it!!!!

It removes us from the equation. When God blesses someone, it’s not about us. Because God has something reserved for us, perhaps at another time where someone will say to you, YES and AMEN.

There is a catch here… we first have to had received the YES and AMEN from God. Believing what this scripture says. That God’s promises are for ALL OF US… and they are full of YES and AMEN’s. If you have problems in this area and don’t see them working in your life, I urge you to have a talk with the Lord. It could be there is a breach between you and Him. That has to be restored through repenting and forgiving and receiving from HIM. See, you cannot give away what you don’t have FIRST for yourself. So when you can truly believe God loves you. When you can truly sense His presence and love in your heart. When you don’t have any doubt towards Him, you will begin to experience the YES’s and Amen’s in your life. Then you will have it to give away. It shows our Father’s heart towards others, and that’s what Jesus taught. How to love, forgive, and get along with people. As long as there is any kind of unforgiveness in our hearts, we are blocking the Yes’ and Amen’s for us. Anytime we haven’t truly received God’s love for us, we are blocking those Yes’s and Amens.  Like Scrooge said when he was delivered from HIMSELF, “Mankind is our business.” Remember how he was? When he was stingy and uncaring and always thought of himself, he was withering away. But the minute he began being a blessing to someone else, his joy came!

Let’s not be a scrooge any more nor be afraid when others are blessed, but say YES and AMEN, for in so doing you are opening up the windows of heaven to shower you YOUR blessings of YES and AMEN.

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Has God Really Said?

October 11, 2014

Do you recall what Satan said to Eve in the Garden? Genesis 3:3-5 3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

In other words the enemy is saying, “Has God really said you would die? I think not. He’s holding back knowledge from you.”

The enemy has been casting doubt on God’s Word since the beginning of time. And as I was thinking on this, we do the same thing today. We allow a question mark to appear at the end of something God is saying. It turns from fact to a question. For example: God is love turns to Does God love? or Forgive or else you won’t be forgiven turns to, are you sure you won’t be forgiven if you don’t forgive?

Will you take the Word of God for “the” final authority or will you continue questioning. Questions gender strife, the Bible says. And with strife is every evil thing. We may be causing our own problems because we have opened the door of strife. But it started with a simple question!!

Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

God’s love is law. Forgiving one another is God’s law. It’s the law of grace and love, but it is law. And as we continue doubting the Word of of God, we are striving, and is unprofitable.

2 Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

I believe that foolish and unlearned questions are those that question God, period.

We have all done it. We take the Word of God and question it. We are allowing the enemy to cause us to think this way. Today, take back your thoughts. Choose today to decide WHO to believe and you will find your peace, healing and restoration.
