90% verses 10%

February 22, 2016

I wanted to share an excerpt out of my recent book called, “Do You Have an Unbiblical Cord?” It talks about being freed from manipulation, control, soul-ties and co-dependencies. How we can CHOOSE our freedom. The Lord showed me a formula for living, and here it is: (Note: I’m not one for formulas, but here’s a good one!)

1 Corinthians 5:4-6 4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 6Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?”

This clearly states that we don’t have to live with abuse, defilement or abusive control. We are called to peace. We are called to walk in holiness. Sometimes we’ll have to make hard choices. The Lord even has to let some go into the hands of Satan to save their soul! But we are also told to continue to pray for those who are like this because they are truly broken. They have needs that aren’t being met. They need the Savior! Christian or not… anyone who controls, manipulates, has co-dependencies on others, etc., needs more of the Lord in their lives. Perfect love will cast all these things aside and we will spring forth as we were meant to be.

It reminds me of the following passage which helps me to better choose those I spend the most time with.

Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

I see it this way. I’ve been learning to eat better using this equation: Eat 90% of healthy God made foods, and 10% of other stuff. That way the 90% outweighs that 10% and my health improves greatly. But if it’s the other way around, I start to feel poorly. I believe we can use that equation with relationships. Spend 90% with the Lord, fellowship with other believers, Bible reading, etc., and spend 10% of our time with those in need outside of the faith. That way we are ready and able to share our faith with conviction, we’ll be equipped to love the unlovable, and have the wisdom to keep ourselves unspotted from the world! We’ll be able to help others without falling prey. We’ll not get frustrated or angry when someone doesn’t do what we think they should do. Our lives will be so overwhelmed with God, that that 10% will be gobbled up. Scriptures say that the Love of God brings people to repentance. Since we are humans and can easily get distracted or fall into doubt, this equation will keep you strong, equipped and able to stand in any situation where you can receive what you need so you have it to give to others. This is truly an equation for Christian Living.

This equation sounds familiar doesn’t it? 10% tithe is to be given to the Lord so what do we do with the 90%? Something to think about.

Be sure to pick up my book called “Do You Have an Unbiblical Cord?” It also takes you through questions after each topic so we grasp the truth of what is being shared.

Got Hope?

February 6, 2016

This morning I awoke with a word for me from the Lord which I love sharing with you in hopes you are also encouraged and strengthened.

Have you ever heard someone say, “Don’t get your hopes up?” Perhaps you have said it to yourself? Well, that is such a horrible statement. One that will keep us bound in our junk, because without hope how can we survive anything? See, the problem is we are hoping in the wrong things. We are hoping the doctor finds out what is wrong with us. We are hoping someone does something for us. We are hoping for circumstances to change. We are hoping in people, places or things. But all those are called “false hope” and will end in disappointment and disaster. The only way we are to Hope is to HOPE IN GOD alone (Psalm 42:11). Then if you are waiting for an answer to a prayer or something else and you feel like giving up, then transfer that hope to trusting God! That will carry you to whatever ends. Trust becomes a bridge.

As you know, I always share a personal spin on these insights, and here it is:  I have been experiencing a chronic health issue, one that cannot be figured out. My hope was wavering as it’s been going on for almost five years. Wouldn’t that make you lose hope? Well, I almost did until this morning when the Lord said now take your hope and turn it to TRUSTing Me (Hebrews 11:6). He reminded me of the scripture that says Hope deferred makes the heart sick… (Proverbs 13:12). My hope is not deferred today, it’s been re-ferred to the Lord to keep me by trusting Him to keep me. Psalm 121 says “The Lord is my keeper…”

So if there has been something nagging at you and it’s not been resolved. If there is a health issue that is continual without no end in sight. This message is for you. I hope it encourages you to know you are not alone. The Lord understands all your weaknesses. He feels all your pain. He knows your suffering. Share them with Him through hoping and trusting in Him alone, and you will not be disappointed.
